Transfiguration of Our Lord Church History
Transfiguration of Our Lord Roman Catholic Parish in Etobicoke broke ground in 1960. Rev. Lacey (who later become a bishop in the Archdiocese of Toronto) built this parish and was with it during its inception. Transfiguration, once with a predominantly Irish community, has grown much from its roots and has become a vibrant multicultural population much like the city it resides in. The parish which has affectionately been called Trans by its parishioners had the addition of a chapel in 2000. With over 3000 families, the parish is one of the largest in the West end of the city.
It is a blessing for me to be a part of this wonderful parish and my prayer is that we all continue to move closer to Jesus for many years to come.
