I was born and raised in Shadyside, OH, and have lived all my life—so far anyway!—in the Ohio Valley area. My father and one sister still live in Shadyside and another sister lives in Pittsburgh PA. My mother passed away seven years ago. I am divorced and have a wonderful daughter who lives in Cleveland. My family has always been very close and we spend much time with each other.
I graduated from Ohio University with a bachelor’s degree in secondary education and was briefly employed as a high school language arts instructor, but eventually took a manager position with a company in Pittsburgh. I also moved to Cadiz, OH.
During this time, I experienced what I describe as a spiritual awakening. Although I was raised in a church, I had abandoned churchgoing in my youth, but now felt called to join one. After searching through several I settled on Cadiz Presbyterian, where I was warmly welcomed and felt at home. There I became a Sunday School teacher, then a session elder. Gradually I began to sense that God was calling me to ministry and entered the process of exploring this call through presbytery and under the guidance of Rev. William Hudson.
I entered Pittsburgh Theological Seminary and during my time there I was given the opportunity to serve Third Presbyterian in Wheeling WV as student pastor for three years. I graduated from PTS with a Master of Divinity degree. After Third Presbyterian closed I accepted the position of temporary supply pastor at Trinity United Presbyterian in Bergholz, OH and moved to Bergholz, where I was ordained and have served for twelve years. But now I welcome the opportunity to return to Cadiz Presbyterian to serve as your new minister!
