Emmanuel Church Service Times
Sunday
Eucharist
This is a quiet said service in accessible modern language. The timing is designed for those who are going to be out and about on Sunday and who want to make their communion first.
Every Sunday at 8:00 AM for ½ hour
Morning Prayer
A short reflective service centred around psalms and scriptural readings and as part of an ongoing stream of prayer throughout the week
Sunday at 8:45 AM for ¼ hour
Informal Eucharist
This is our more informal Sunday Eucharist, celebrated around a central altar and is especially suitable for very young children. There is lively and engaging singing as everyone worships in church together
Every Sunday at 9:15 AM for 40 minutes
Sung Eucharist
Our more traditional service on a Sunday is the 10.30 am Sung Eucharist and lasts for about one hour. As its name implies, music is an integral part of the service which is traditional in style with thoughtful and reflexive preaching. Come and join us and find out what it's all about. We welcome everyone. You are especially welcome if you want to meet a lively congregation and get to know people over refreshments afterwards.
During the Eucharist, Children's Church meets in the room off the north east porch. The children start the Eucharist in Church with the congregation and then process out for their activities after the collect of the day, for fun activities and worship which most connect with them, returning to church for holy communion / blessings.
On the first Sunday of each month, children play a full part in the service, serving at the altar, reading the scriptures, leading the prayers and singing in our children's choir.
Babies and young children can use the books and cushions in the creche facility in the community room in the south aisle, but they remain the responsibility of their parents.
Ask the people on the door about anything you wish to know they will be able to help you or point out someone who can answer your query.

Help me to avoid every sin
Thanks to Thee, O God, that I have risen today, To the rising of this life itself; may it be to Thine own glory, O God of every gift, and to the glory, aid Thou my soul. With the aiding of Thine own mercy, even as I clothe my body with wool, cover Thou my soul with the shadow of Thy wing. Help me to avoid every sin, and the source of every sin to forsake, and as the mist scatters on the crest of the hills, may each ill haze clear from my soul, O God.
