First Baptist Church Boonville History
First Baptist Church was established in 1843. The original church building was located on Vine Street, presently the Turner Hall building (down one block from FBC's current location). First Baptist Church has a long history in Boonville. Even before the building was constructed in 1847, members met in a grove by a stream for services and baptisms and in member's cabins in the winter months. In 1884, the church purchased its first parsonage for $1,200 (note: this is not the current parsonage).
Our church has been front and center to many historical events occuring in Boonville; including the settlement of Boonville and surrounding areas by Daniel Boone and Hannah Cole (who built the Hannah Cole Fort), General Sterling Price's Raid on Boonville, other Civil War skirmishs, and the Great Depression.
March 6, 1889, the Vine Street church property was sold to S.H. Stephens for $1,000.
October 6, 1889, new Sanctuary on Main Street dedicated.
1916-Marble Baptistry was added
1922- Sunday School addition was annexed
1943- Pulpit furniture donated for memorials to the church's Centennial Celebration
1963- First Baptist Church becomes mother to Sante Fe Baptist Church of Boonville on Sante Fe Road

Forgive us
O God, forgive the poverty and the pettiness of our prayers . Listen not to our words but to the yearnings of our hearts. Hear beneath our petitions the crying of our need.
