Who we are
THE First Greater New Hope Baptist Church COMMONLY REFERRED TO AS "THE HOPE" IS WITHOUT A DOUBT ONE OF THE MOST EXCITING WORSHIP EXPERIENCES IN THE CITY OF FORT WORTH. WE ARE NOT YOUR TYPICAL BAPTIST CHURCH. WE ARE INDEED A UNIQUE GROUP OF PEOPLE.
WE EMBRACE OUR CHRISTIANITY FIRST AND FOREMOST. WE DO NOT BELIEVE THAT JESUS CHRIST STARTED DEMONINATIONS. WE BELIEVE THE BIBLE WHERE IT DECLARES THAT JESUS IS THE AUTHOR AND THE FINISHER OF OUR FAITH.
OUR FAITH IS CHRISTIANITY.
HERE AT "THE HOPE" WE BELIEVE THAT OUR PRAISE EXPERIENCE SHOULD BE EXCITING YET WITHOUT COMPROMISING THE TRUE WORD OF GOD.
OUR PRIMARY PURPOSE IS TO INTRODUCE EVERYONE TO THE ONLY SAVIOR OF THE WORLD, JESUS CHRIST!
WE ARE FURTHER COMMITTED TO ENSURING THAT EVERYONE WHO HAS A RELATIONSHIP WITH CHRIST KNOWS THEIR POSITION IN CHRIST JESUS AND THE GREAT HERITAGE WE ENJOY AS MEMBERS OF THE FAMILY OF GOD.
WE TRUST THAT YOU WILL VISIT WITH US AS WE CELEBRATE OUR FAITH IN GOD, OUR SALVATION IN CHRIST JESUS, AND OUR RELIANCE UPON THE HOLY SPIRIT OF OUR GOD TO PERFORM THAT PERFECT WORK IN US FOR THE GLORY OF GOD.

First Greater New Hope Baptist Church History
OUR HISTORY
THE FIRST GREATER NEW HOPE BAPTIST CHURCH WAS ORGANIZED IN SEPTEMBER OF 1979, AFTER A CHURCH SPLIT WITH THE GREATER NEW HOPE BAPTIST CHURCH. THERE WERE 36 COMMITTED MEMBERS WHO HAD AN UNFAILING FAITH IN GOD. THESE FAITHFUL FEW WORSHIPPED IN THE HOMES OF ITS' MEMBERS UNTIL THE BUDGET AFFORDED THEM THE OPPORTUNITY TO WORSHIP AT THE YMCA LOCATED ON BERRY STREET.
IN 1980, A PERMANENT HOME WAS FOUND. FINANCING WAS SECURED AND THE CHURCH FAMILY MOVED IN WITH HIGH EXPECTATIONS. FINALLY ACCOMPLISHING THIS GOAL, THE CHURCH SET THEIR SIGHTS ON FINDING A GREAT LEADER TO LEAD THEM IN THE DIRECTION IN WHICH GOD WOULD HAVE THEM TO GO.
THE FIRST PASTOR OF THE CHURCH WAS REVEREND DAVID R. KING, WHO WAS CALLED IN FEBRUARY OF 1981. PASTOR KING RENEWED THE VISION AND IMMEDIATELY THE CHURCH BEGAN TO GROW FROM 51 ACTIVE MEMBERS TO 300. UNDER PASTOR KING'S LEADERSHIP THE CHURCH WAS COMPLETELY REMODELED, ADDITIONAL LAND WAS PURCHASED, NEW MINISTRIES WERE STARTED. PASTOR KING WAS IN THE PROCESS OF LEADING THE CHURCH IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW FACILITY WHEN IN OCTOBER OF 1992 PASTOR KING UNEXPECTEDLY PASSED AWAY AT THE YOUNG AGE OF 36. THE CHURCH WENT INTO PRAYER TO ASK GOD FOR ANOTHER PROGRESSIVE MINDED MAN OF GOD. AFTER MUCH PRAYER, THE CHURCH CALLED THE REVEREND B.R. DANIELS, JR. IN APRIL 1993.
UPON PASTOR DANIELS' ARRIVAL, THE MISSION THAT PASTOR KING SET FORTH WAS CONTINUED AND RENEWED. UNDER PASTOR DANIELS' TENURE EVEN GREATER THINGS WERE ACCOMPLISHED. THE ENTIRE CHURCH DEBT WAS LIQUIDATED TO INCLUDE THE MORTGAGE BY HIS FIRST ANNIVERSARY.
PASTOR DANIELS LED THE CHURCH INTO ANOTHER REMODELING PROJECT WHICH WAS PAID FOR IN CASH. ANOTHER 2 ACRES WERE PURCHASED FOR THE PURPOSE OF EXPANSION. IN MAY OF 2000, A NEW SANCTUARY WAS COMPLETED FOR THE FIRST GREATER NEW HOPE FAMILY AND IN MAY OF 2015 THE DEBT WAS LIQUIDATED ON THE NEW SANCTUARY.
THE HOPE" HAS CONTINUED TO GROW OVER THESE 24 YEARS THAT PASTOR DANIELS HAS BEEN THERE. THE MEMBERSHIP GREW FROM 300 ROLLED MEMBERS TO APPROXIMATELY 600. MANY MINISTRIES HAVE BEEN STARTED AND MANY COMMUNITY PROJECTS HAVE BENEFITED THE GLEN GARDEN AREA OF FORT WORTH AS A RESULT OF PASTOR DANIELS' VISION AND LOVE FOR THE MINISTRY.
GOD CONTINUES TO BLESS THE FIRST GREATER NEW HOPE BAPTIST CHURCH AND HE IS STILL OPENING THE WINDOWS OF HEAVEN AND POURING OUT BLESSINGS THAT WE HAVE NOT HAD ROOM TO RECEIVE. THANK GOD FOR HIS GRACIOUSNESS SHOWN TOWARD US.
