Who we are
We strive to be an inclusive fellowship of disciples serving our community.
We are a small, established church in the growing city of Forney, Texas. We are mission-minded, active within and for our community. We are theologically progressive, in keeping with the historic reformed phrase “reformed and always being reformed according to the Word of God.”
We offer weekly communion (effective September 2019).
FPC Forney is a multi-generational congregation with a diversity in ages. Our membership and our leadership is comprised from people diverse in color, culture, language, sexual orientation, and marital/family status. We have vital, life-giving ministries including worship, bible studies, and service to our community. We are open to the future, discerning the “new things” God is up to. We follow Jesus by welcoming the stranger and sharing our stories of faith.
We are part of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). We share ministry with other Presbyterian churches through our regional council, Grace Presbytery.

First Presbyterian Church History
Our History
God has enabled FPC Forney to have a ministry in our community for over 140 years. Our church was created by the merger of two congregations before the town of Brooklyn was renamed Forney. The Brooklyn Church of the Presbytery of Bacon of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church was organized in 1872. A second congregation, the Forney Presbyterian Church U.S. (Southern) began in 1883 and built a sanctuary on the intersection of Bois D’Arc and Brooks Street. Following the merger in 1919, the name was changed to First Presbyterian Church of Forney. A new red brick structure was dedicated on that same site in October, 1925, and the Church continued to be a vital part of the Forney community.
In 2006 the church moved into a new building in a new location on FM 1641, having purchased 10 acres near Henderson Elementary School. (The prior church building on Bois D’Arc was sold and is currently in use by another congregation.) Our current building is the first phase of a master plan that could eventually include a larger sanctuary and a separate community building. Our new location has opened up new ministry opportunities, including a labyrinth and community garden. In 2017 we installed a completely refurbished stained glass window depicting Jesus' resurrection from John 20.
As a result of the pandemic, we became a hybrid worship church, offering both in-person and virtual worship experiences. You may worship in person on our campus or anytime online via YouTube and Facebook.
Our new Mission & Community Center was completed in 2023, the year we added a new Allen organ and Steinway piano to enhance our worship.

We need passion
We need passion in our faith! Instead of praying, 'If I should die before I wake', we should pray, 'Lord wake me up before I die!'
