Who we are
OUR VISION
Have you ever tried to walk with a blindfold on, or run with your hands over your eyes?
How did that work out for you?
How did your knees feel when they banged against the wall, or your toes when they got stubbed against the table?
And how did you feel when you opened your eyes, and realized you weren’t where you thought you would be?
Vision is critical to the well-being of our physical bodies, and vision is just as important to the Body of Christ – the church. Vision helps us understand where we are going and how the different parts of our body need to work together to get us there. Vision tells us when danger lies ahead and what we should do to avoid it. Vision beckons us to something greater than we are today.
Hope Church has one simple vision:
Following Jesus Together.
Why “Following Jesus Together”? We’d love to tell you…
As we read the Scriptures, our understanding is that God’s purpose for the local church is best summarized in the word “Discipleship”. According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, the first synonym of “Disciple” is “Follower”; and that is exactly what we are, followers of Jesus Christ. We believe that all of the purposes God has given us, such as to glorify God, to care for those in need, to love our neighbors as ourselves, to proclaim the good news of Jesus around the world, and to obey His commands are bound together in this one idea of following Jesus.
At Hope Church, we also find it instructive that when Jesus called the original twelve disciples, He did not call them to a life of following Him by themselves, but with one another, in fellowship – together. The rest of Scripture makes it plain: God’s design for His people is not that they would be a loose association of believing individuals, but a body bound to one another in love, grace and truth. And so that is our vision for this body as well: to follow Jesus, and to follow Jesus together.

Come Lord Jesus!
Lord Jesus, master of both the light and the darkness, send your Holy Spirit upon our preparations for Christmas. We who have so much to do seek quiet spaces to hear your voice each day. We who are anxious over many things look forward to your coming among us. We who are blessed in so many ways long for the complete joy of your kingdom. We whose hearts are heavy seek the joy of your presence. We are your people, walking in darkness, yet seeking the light. To you we say, "Come Lord Jesus!"
