Who we are
Ocoee Church of God is located in Ocoee, Tennessee and has immediate access to both Polk County and Bradley County residents. Our church is located right on 64 Highway in Ocoee which is a four-lane thorough way that connects people to the north, south, east, and west to both Polk County and Bradley County. Also, 64 Highway connects people as far as North Carolina. Our church is located about 1 mile east of Highway 411 which is another major four lane highway that connects people from Georgia to Knoxville. Our church seats about 500 and we are located right in the center of the whitewater rafting region where the 1996 Olympic whitewater venue was held on the Ocoee River. At Ocoee Church of God, our music, praise and worship, youth, and children's ministries, along with timely messages, address the needs of the congregation because they are heartfelt, sincere, and are empowered through the Holy Spirit.
We are a church based upon love, evidence by the unity we enjoy as a body of believers. At any given church service, you can expect to see people engage in praise and worship evidenced by the freedom our church enjoys as it regards praise and honor to God. Our altars are almost always filled with people that have needs and desire to draw closer to God. In addition, our church provides you with the opportunity to establish new relationships evident by the growth the church has experienced over the years. This church was founded back in 1976 by Pastor Bob Whitmire (the father of Pastor Mike) who received his heavenly reward back in 2001. As the founding pastor, Pastor Bob believed and lived by the creed that the Ocoee Church of God was a church where "Everybody is a Somebody" and that we must be a "Down to earth church in an updated society."
What we Believe:
Church of God is...
The Church of God was founded in 1886 upon the principles of Christ as they are revealed in the Bible, the Word of God. It has its foundation of faith and practice in the Scriptures and the vital experience of its constituents is scripturally oriented.
Foundational Doctrines....
The Church of God subscribes to the following five foundational Christian doctrines:
The inerrancy and infallibility of the Bible. The virgin birth and complete deity of Christ. The atoning sacrifice of Christ's death for the sins of the world. The literal resurrection of the body. Christ's second coming in bodily form to earth.
Declaration of Faith...
The Church of God believes the whole Bible to be completely and equally inspired and that it is the written Word of God. The Church of God has adopted the fowling Declaration of Faith as its standard and official expression of its doctrine.
We Believe:
In the verbal inspiration of the Bible.
In one God eternally in three persons; namely the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
That Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of the Father, conceived of the Holy Ghost, and born of the Virgin Mary. That Jesus was crucified, buried, and raised from the dead. That He ascended to heaven and is today at the right hand of the Father as the Intercessor.
That all have sinned and come short of the glory of God and that repentance is commanded of God for all necessary for forgiveness of sins.
That justification, regeneration, and the new birth are wrought by faith in the blood of Jesus Christ.
In sanctification subsequent to the new birth, through faith in the blood of Christ; through the Word, and by the Holy Ghost.
Holiness to be God's standard of living for His people.
In the baptism with the Holy Ghost subsequent to a clean heart.
In speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance and that it is initial evidence of the baptism of the Holy Ghost.
In water baptism by immersion, and all who repent should be baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.
Divine healing is provided for all in the Atonement.
In the Lord's Supper and washing of the saints' feet
In the premillennial second coming of Jesus. First, to resurrect the righteous dead and to catch away the living saints to Him in the air. Second, to reign on the earth a thousand years.
In the bodily resurrection; eternal life for the righteous, and eternal punishment for the wicked.

Leader Bio:
Pastor Mike and his family came to Ocoee Church of God as Pastors in February 2020. This was the church Pastor Mike's dad (Pastor Bob Whitmire) founded back in 1976. Both Pastor Mike and Sandy attended the Ocoee Church of God from 1976-2006, at which time Pastor Mike was called into the ministry. Being raised for most of his life in both Polk and Bradley Counties, provides him with a special sense and feel for the social, physical, and spiritual needs of the communities being served. Pastor Mike currently holds a degree in Business Management with a Major in Finance that was a result of his 38-year banking career in Polk County prior to his call into the ministry in 2008.
He and his wife Sandy have one daughter that attended Polk County High School where she was a varsity football cheerleader all four years. She plans to attend college and major in nursing. Some of Pastor Mike's hobbies are golf, softball, hunting, tennis, and fishing.
Pastor Mike and Sandy served as Senior Pastors of the All Nations Church of God from 2010-2020 and experienced a mighty move of God with hundreds being saved, healed, and delivered. Pastor Mike and Sandy now come to serve as the Senior Pastors of the Ocoee Church of God along with an awesome congregation of people with the full intention of restoring the original vision for Ocoee that was given to his dad back in the mid 70's. In 2019, he was appointed by the State Overseer to serve on the MIP Board (Ministerial Internship Program) in the State of Tennessee. This program is one of foundational programs in the Church of God for ministers and leaders. This 9-month highly intergraded program provides those seeking to advance in ministry with an effective hand on approach towards ministry. This program also provides ministerial preparation by practical training on the local-church level, academic self-study, and monthly training seminars, focusing on vital topics for spiritual leadership and effectiveness. The Ministerial Internship Program is required to advance from Exhorter rank to the status of Ordained Minister. Currently, the Ministerial Internship Program has been expanded to eighty-one countries and translated into eighteen languages.
While serving at All Nations from 2010-2020, Pastor Mike and Sandy witnessed the Power of God being restored to that church evidenced by the large number of people that have been saved, filled, and healed by the Power of God. His desire and the people’s desire is to continue that same vision and implement positive change in the lives of the people and the community at Ocoee as well, through the vision that God has mandated for the church since its inception back in the mid 70's. As a third generation Pastor in the Church of God, he is committed to the preaching of the Cross as the means for salvation and eternal life. He is a 'Down to earth Pastor in an updated society.'
Currently, Pastor Mike and the church have established and are presently operating over 24 different outreach ministries from Ocoee. Some other passions for ministry at Ocoee are winning souls for Christ and discipling the harvest that God has provided since 2008. Pastor Mike is committed to helping others fulfill their calling in the Lord and helping them realize their potential in the Kingdom ministry. His desire to help others revolves around the concept of getting people in, building them up for ministry, training them for effective service, and sending them out to fulfill the Great Commission mandate. Pastor Mike currently has 20 plus ministers in his local church at Ocoee that is participating in ministry. His goal and legacy are to build future generations, not crush future generations.

Our "Light in the Dark Youth Ministry" is a Youth Group designed for teens in grades 9-12 and is a vibrant and vital part of the ministry at Ocoee Church of God. This group is led by Youth Pastors Zach and Cheyenne Miller and they are assisted by the Associate Youth Pastors Ryan and Dee Dempsey. These young people are the future of our church and we work hard to train them to be prepared for when "their day" comes. The group meets several times each month for activities, bible studies, and youth services. Some of these activities include mission's trips, Winterfest, scavenger hunts, lock-ins, and much more. The purpose of the youth group is to have good Christian fellowship, to evangelize to the lost, to build up their peers, and to disciple the youth.
Goals for the Youth Ministry:
Spiritual Growth
*Salvation- To show from their testimony that every teen has received Christ as their personal Savior. Romans 10:9,10
*Evangelization- Train each young person to share the Gospel and allow opportunities to lead someone to Christ.
*Service Oriented- To present opportunities for service oriented activities such as: team outreach, mission trips, nursing homes, Bible studies, church cleaning/workday children's ministries, etc.
*Devoted Teens- To encourage each teen to develop a more intimate knowledge of God. 2 Peter 3:18
1. Consistent daily devoting of oneself to God
2. Habitual Bible reading and prayer
3. A thirst for studying God's Word
Social Growth
*A teachable, humble, obedient spirit. Learning to honor and obey the authorities that God has placed in our lives.
*Responsibility- Learning to respect others and their property, working together, carrying one's own part of the load, cleaning up after oneself.
*Friendship- Making friends by reaching out to others, providing opportunities for small groups and socializing.
*Character- Attempting to develop qualities in the young people that honor Christ and are respectable.

Hospitality Team Ministry
The 'Hospitality Ministry' is one of the many foundational ministries offered by Ocoee. At Ocoee, we place an important emphasis on servanthood and preparing the way for others. Our Hospitality Ministry, which is led by one of our Associate Pastor's Teresa Miller, who serves as a model for preparedness and servanthood. As Director of this ministry, Pastor Teresa and her team has been dedicated to the needs of others evidenced by their heartfelt service toward building the Kingdom of God.
Since 1995, Pastor Teresa has worked and labored in the ministry of hospitality and giving to others. As part of this ministry team, additional volunteers assist Pastor Teresa to offer the highest quality of servant leadership to make others feel incredibly special. Pastor Teresa is gifted in the ministry of hospitality. Scripture reveals to us in Hebrews 6:10: 'For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which you have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.' (KJV)
The 'Hospitality Ministry' works in conjunction with other ministries and volunteers throughout our church to provide such services as assisting in event planning, food services (meals), and creating themes that works in conjunction with a particular church related event. This ministry is symbolic of the banquet table that God has prepared and spread for each one of us, in that, it speaks of love and preparedness in helping others. As a feature of hospitality, banquets indicate and provide the transformation of a stranger into a guest (Genesis 19:3-14; Luke 5:29) or of an enemy into a covenant partner. Banquets mark important transitional points in a person's life, e.g., Isaac’s weaning day (Genesis 21:8); the weddings of Jacob (Genesis 29:22); Sampson marriage feast (Judges 14:10); and the marriage supper of the Lamb (Revelation 19:9); and the parable of the wedding feast in Matthew 22:2-10. In fact, we are a guest of God's wonderful hospitality. For the world in which we live, along with the air we breathe, is a pure gift from God. In this, we can see Creation and how it expresses God's hospitality.
