Who we are
Welcome to Holy Comforter Church
Whether you are visiting us on the "web", or are in Rankin Inlet as a long term resident, or just passing through, we are pleased that you have found us. If you're in the community, you can find us at # 1, 14th Inulik Street; you can't miss our red building with the steeple in the open courtyard.
We hope that your visit (real or virtual) will be an uplifting experience, and the light of Jesus Christ our Saviour will shine in your heart.
Holy Comforter Church is one of several Anglican congregations in Nunavut's Kivalliq (formerly Keewatin) region, one of 50 communities served by the Diocese of the Arctic throughout Nunavut, Arctic Quebec and the Northwest Territories. Our Diocesan Bishop is the Rt. Rev'd. Andrew Atagotaaluk (the world's first Inuk Diocesan Bishop) and our Regional Bishop is the Rt. Rev'd. Larry Robertson.
The name "Holy Comforter" is a synonym for the "Holy Spirit" (the 3rd person in the Holy Trinity, which is the Christian name for God).
While we are organized as an Anglican Parish, with Anglican priests and lay leaders, our congregation is made up of people from many different denominations. We try to live up to the standard set by St. Paul: "There is no longer Jew or Greek, slave or free, male or female, for all of you are one in Christ Jesus."
Walk with us as we walk with Jesus, and we will learn from each other. If you ever find yourself in this corner of the Arctic, come and visit us. For now, please remember to pray for us.
God bless and keep you.
