Who we are
Zion Lutheran Church (Waynesboro, Virginia) is a congregation of the Virginia Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
Located three miles north of downtown Waynesboro in a setting that one visitor describes as "a little taste of Ireland," Zion is a small, lively, welcoming, family friendly, diverse congregation.
Our unity, of course, is in Jesus Christ and the good news of His holy gospel. Every Sunday we receive the promises of that gospel—forgiveness, life, and salvation—in a worship service known throughout Christian history as the "liturgy," God's divine "public service" on behalf of the whole world.
In the liturgy—through confession and absolution, the preaching of the Word of God, and in the sacrament of Holy Communion—people receive God's gifts of grace in Jesus Christ.
We extend our Lord's invitation for you to receive these gifts at worship at Zion Lutheran Church. We look forward to seeing you!

Zion Lutheran Church History
History
1823 — Church organized 1894 — Sanctuary built
Trinity Lutheran Church
Established in 1772, Trinity Lutheran Church, 2564 Rockfish Road, Crimora, Virginia, is the oldest church in the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, and the congregation from which Zion Lutheran Church, Waynesboro was established in 1823.
Once a year we enjoy a worship service in the sanctuary near the shady Oak Grove of our birthplace and follow that service with a picnic in Trinity’s full-facility pavilion. Bring your favorite dish to share, a lawn chair, and join us for this fun, annual summer outing.

Light of the World
Jesus, the Light of the World, as we celebrate your birth... may we begin to see the world in the light of understanding you give us. As you chose the lowly, the outcasts, and the poor to receive the greatest news the world had ever known, so may we worship you in meekness of heart. May we also remember our brothers and sisters less fortunate than ourselves in this season of giving. Amen.
