Who we are
We are the people of God who worship in this place, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Greenacres. We represent no particular social, economic or ethnic group, but are bound together by the promises of Almighty God given in the Bible and faith in those promises. We are not models of perfection, just people on a journey – a journey of faith. How that faith is expressed varies from person to person. Some of us have grown up under the promises of God, others have come recently to faith.
Some are of mature age, others spreading their wings, and others of an age still in single figures. We all have something to learn from each other, and because God is continually creating we believe that He will use our stories as building blocks of faith in the hearts of our readers. We commit this journey in service to you and to Him.
We are a diverse group of people committed to sharing the love of Jesus. We hold to the Lutheran expression of the Christian faith with an emphasis on God’s grace and love for all people. We are a caring, open community of believers, patiently supporting each other’s journey of faith.
The community, the body of Christ, is nourished each time we celebrate Holy Communion. Holy Communion is celebrated on most Sundays of the month. Worship begins at 10.00am, though the time may vary on special occasions.
Beside gathering as a community for worship, we also gather in small groups to build bonds of friendship and encourage one another in the faith. Our small groups include floral group, friendship groups, grief support group, men’s breakfast, women’s fellowship, Coffee and Chat, and prayer group. Enquirers and new members are welcome to any of these groups. Phone 0488 179 353 to enquire about times and locations.
The body of Christ grows as people, young or old, are baptised. We welcome the presence of young parents with their young children, as we believe that Christ works a miracle through baptism in which age has no relevance. Baptism is preceded by instruction in the meaning of baptism, so that parents and god-parents are made aware of the gift and responsibilities surrounding this God-given sacrament.
Sickness, sorrow and pain visit everybody at some stage or another, the Christian no less. Our Pastoral Care team are on call to attend to the spiritual needs of people in distress, and can refer people for professional help if needed. Phone 0488 179 353 to make a connection.
We praise God for calling us into His kingdom, His community, and the privilege of supporting one another in His name.
Our Mission
Under the grace of God, we seek to be a vibrant, welcoming and inclusive worshipping community. Our aim is that all who join us will experience a sense of belonging and a blossoming faith as we receive care, training and support for our journey of faith.
Our Mission Statement, ‘Committed to sharing Jesus’, drives us to make worship and the Word of God accessible to all. So our buildings are easily accessible for those with mobility issues, a hearing loop is installed in the church for those who wear hearing aids and printed service orders are available for those with vision impairment. We understand that disability can impact someone significantly, but we welcome the presence of each person, and the gifts that they bring as God’s children.
Local Mission
Young people in local schools are supported by Pastoral Care Workers, which in turn are supported by the ecumenical group, Adelphos. As members of Adelphos, we find great joy in being able to support the youth of our community.
We support the work of Lutheran Community Care (LCC) in various ways. At LCC vulnerable people are cared for, emergency relief is distributed and counselling is available. What we at Hampstead would find difficult to do alone we can do together with others through LCC.
