Who we are
Welcome to the Church of St. Augustine of Canterbury
We’re a diverse commuity – young and old, able-bodied and physically challenged, employed and unemployed. We’re married, single, divorced, straight and gay, from a wide variety of cultural origins. We’re a neighbourhood church, but lots of our members love St. Augustine’s so much they come from as far away as Mississauga.
We’re not a club – anybody can belong – but we really care about the members of our parish family, and make time for each other. We’re also committed to the challenge of following Christ in our secular society, providing opportunities for study and discussion. St. Augustine’s is known for our progressive stance on the issues debated in the Church today, supporting same-sex relationships, shared leadership and contemporary worship.

Travel/Directions Tips
TTC – There is a bus stop directly in front of the church and it can be accessed by taking the #11 bus which picks up from Davisville station to the south and #11A from Bayview Station in the north. On Sundays the bus has limited service.
From Davisville Station (Yonge Line): The bus leaves the station every 18 minutes. The 7:48am bus is recommended for the 8:30am service, the 8:58am bus for St. Augustine’s cafe, and the 9:50 bus for the 10:30am service.
From Eglinton Station (Yonge Line): If you don’t mind a short 5-10 minute walk up hill this is the most convenient way to go. From Eglinton station take any eastbound bus and get off at Bayview. Walk up the hill and you will see the church on the east hand side at Broadway Ave. There are 5 buses that go eastbound so you shouldn’t have much more then a 10 minute wait at the station for one of them.
From Bayview Station (Sheppard Line): The bus leaves the station every 35 minutes. Only the 11A travels from here. No bus travels early enough for the 8:30am service. The 8:49am bus is recommended for st. Augustine’s Cafe, and the 9:24am bus is recommended for the 10:30am service.

Worship Schedule
8:30 am We have an early service each Sunday, lasting about 45 minutes. It’s in the beautiful old language of the Book of Common Prayer. There are a couple of hymns, Bible readings, prayers, a short sermon, and the celebration of the eucharist.
10:30 am Our main Sunday celebration, in contemporary language, lasts for about an hour. We gather together for an opening hymn and prayer, then the kids go to a Sunday School class, while the adults listen to readings from the Bible, and hear a short, thought-provoking sermon. The children return as all of us gather in a circle around the altar to give thanks for God’s many blessings, and to share Jesus’ holy meal of bread and wine, the eucharist
