Who we are
Our Mission Statement
We, the Roman Catholic faith community of St. Edith Stein Parish, affirm our commitment to our Lord, Savior and Brother Jesus Christ, who is the way, the truth and the life. Empowered by the Holy Spirit, prayer and the sacraments we use our gifts and talents to minister to all people; living out our baptismal call to proclaim the resurrected Christ to all the nations. We center on the sacramental life of the Church, communal liturgical worship, adherence to the teachings of our faith, and our commitment to love God above all else and our neighbor as our self. Through God's grace, the intercession of Mary and all the Saints, we continue in our mission to live, share and celebrate the Gospel.
On July 1, 2019 St. Edith Stein, Rockland became part of St. Faustina Parish, Cumberland.

St. Edith Stein History
History of St. Edith Stein Parish (compiled by Rose Anderson)
St. Edith Stein Parish traces its humble beginnings to St. Trinity approximately 14 years ago when a small group of English parishioners came together to form a distinct English Faith Community.
We began with an English Saturday evening mass. Not long after, the mass was celebrated on Sunday morning at 9:30.
In 1997, Archbishop Gervais suggested we choose the name Blessed Edith Stein where we became the first parish to have then Blessed Edith Stein as our patroness. In 1998, Father Yves Marcheldon was appointed pastor of the English community.
Father Yves assumed Pastoral and administrative responsibility for the community with the liturgy being celebrated at St. Patrick Elementary Catholic School.
Our first mass was celebrated on September 12, 1999, in the school gym. Archbishop Gervais and Msgr Powers were present. It was a beautiful celebration. We were then elevated from a Catholic Faith Community to a quasi parish.
St. Edith Stein has grown to a vibrant and flourishing community.
Over the past ten years, we have become a well established parish with many ministries.
St. Edith Stein's parishioners' vision is to have the funds to one day in the near future to build a church. It is not easy, given the present economincal situration, however, we will stay the course and continue to build upon the ethical, courage, strength and generosity of our community.
St. Edith Stein Parish is here to create a loving community that will enable us to serve the Lord and to be a source of light to our society as we build and grow in thankfulness which opens our hearts even wider to God's love, and our gratitude expresses itself in a jouful, confident way of life, using our gifts generously in God's service.
