Quote of the Day
Luke 12:24
Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the fowls?

St James Anglican Church History
Building Community with God, each other and in God's world
2000 years ago, James and Paul, leaders of the Jewish and Gentile Churches, worked together to find a way for Jews and Gentiles, men and women, slaves and freeborn Roman Citizens to befriend each other. They shared in table fellowship and communion, worship, learning from the Scriptures and caring for each other in practical love. It was utterly counter-cultural. Yet out of this was born Christianity, the first faith in human history to bring such human diversity together as equals.
Our congregation come from around Auckland City. Some are in senior professional roles engaging with the global business community. So we seek, wherever we find ourselves, to help build community, whether in Orakei, the Eastern Bays, Auckland, our nation or world. However St James is also set within the local community of Orakei. In this special little suburb, rich and poor, Maori, Pakeha and other peoples, live as next door neighbours. Our vision at St James in Orakei is firstly, to simply be community, with God and each other and, secondly, to help build community in our suburb, the Eastern Bays, our city, nation and world. We would love to have you join us to make that vision reality.
Nick Frater - Vicar
Sunday worship (at 9.30am with children's programme)
We enjoy a 'Charismatic' style of worship. Our preaching is focussed on following Jesus Christ in the nitty gritty of daily life and work. We offer prayer to those going through difficult times or needing healing. We value our children and families and encourage our children both to learn with each other and contribute as full members of the Church.
