Sarah Jo was born and raised in Petal, MS. She graduated from Millsaps College in 2011 with a B.A. in Political Science. While at Millsaps Sarah Jo worked as the youth and children’s minister at Alta Woods UMC in South Jackson where she discerned a call to ministry. Following graduation from Millsaps she attended Duke Divinity School and graduated with a Master of Divinity in 2014. From 2014-2020, she served the Longview-Adaton charge in Starkville. She was ordained an Elder in 2017. In addition to her work in the local church, Sarah Jo serves as the chair of the MS Annual Conference Board of Global Ministries and the director of the Youth Theological Academy at Millsaps College. Sarah Jo enjoys reading, cooking, and tending to her plants. Jake was born and raised in Mississippi. His family moved around the state, but he counts the Jackson area as home. He earned a B.A. from Millsaps College in 2005, followed by an M.Div. from Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary in 2008, and a Th.M from Duke Divinity School in 2013. He was ordained an Elder by Bishop Hope Morgan Ward in 2011. From 2008-2012 he served as the associate pastor at Alta Woods UMC in South Jackson and pastor to New Covenant UMC in Byram. Jake served as one of the associate pastors at First United Methodist Church in Starkville from 2014-2020. Jake enjoys playing guitar, playing chess, and eating. He loves cookies and Honey Buns, and his favorite book of the Bible is a three-way tie between Philippians, Jonah, and the Gospel of Mark.
