My name is Wayne Walters. I am honored to serve as the next pastor of Market Street United Methodist Church. My family and I are excited about moving to Mabank, sharing ministry with each of you and making connections that glorify God and exemplify the love of Christ. I am married to Kristy and together we have 4 beautiful children. We have shared much joy in our 12-year marriage, but our friendship extends far beyond that. Our children are Ava (10), Aydan (9), Amalie (6), and Aliza (2). They are our pride and joy and bring so much excitement to life. We are blessed beyond deserving. I graduated from Anna High School in 1999. I received my undergraduate degree from The University of North Texas in 2007 with Bachelors of English with a concentration in History. I began a career in teaching and began to realize that the call on my heart to enter full time ministry was no longer something I could ignore. I chose to say yes to God and answered the call to ministry. I left the classroom and began to work toward ordination in the United Methodist Church, which I dearly love. I also graduated from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth with a Masters of Divinity from the Brite School of Theology. I spent many of my college years working in the service industry. I believe God uses that experience in many ways within my ministry. I grew up at Anna UMC. I served at Anna UMC as a high school volunteer in 1999. When I returned from college I served as youth director for 3 years. I served First UMC The Colony until I was called back to Anna UMC as director of Children and Family ministries. It was at Anna UMC where I planted a preschool, reinvigorated the youth and children, and brought the small local church to the people who needed it most. We spent much of our time in the community through holiday events, chamber of commerce activities and school sponsored activities. In 2019 I was appointed to First UMC Trenton and brought much of my experience with me. First UMC Trenton is well known in the community for leading with their hearts and serving with grace. If there is a need in the community First UMC Trenton strives to provide. I describe my leadership style as collaborative, responsible, and communicative. I think these are traits that help me see all the ways that we can “Make Disciples for Jesus Christ for the Transformation of the World.” I love sharing the Gospel with whoever will listen, showing the love of Christ to all who will see, and seeking out those that need to know the love of Christ and sharing it with them. As you can tell, I want the church, the body of Christ, to be recognizable, relevant, and faithful. In our free time we are usually busy doing something for the kids. We love to travel, see new places and experience new things. We love to ride horses, hike, and spend time outdoors. We are leaving our 3 horses in the care of family on our farm in North Texas. We will get back to ride every few months. We are excited to serve alongside you as the body of Christ in Mabank and surrounding areas.
