Monck Baptist Church (Christian)
Sunday Morning Worship…..11am
We come together, as members of the body of Christ, to praise Almighty God. “God inhabits the praises of His people” (Psalm 22:3). We dig into the Word of God, the Bible, to discover further who we are in Christ, where we are in Christ and what we have in Christ……ultimately to be conformed to the image of the Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 8:29) by allowing the Holy Spirit, the third Person of the Trinity (Matthew 28:19; John 14:26; 1 Corinthians 13:14), to give greater revelation of God’s Word (John 14:17-26; Ephesians 1:17-23).
That revelation, by the Spirit of God, is absolutely necessary for us to learn Who God is, what He has done, is doing and will do. It is also necessary for our faith in the Lord to grow as “faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God” (Romans 10:17). We know that faith is “the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” (Hebrews 11:1). But it is also the “conviction of the truthfulness of God’s Word, and the reliance upon Christ for salvation” (as defined by the Greek word for faith, “pistis”). “Without faith, we cannot please God” (Hebrews 11:6)…and to that end, we chose to grow in Christ and build our faith.
History
Monck Baptist Church goes back to the late 1800s. The body of believers met in an old log school house until the church building was constructed in 1896 on one-ninth acre of donated land on the north-east corner of the intersection in Monck. The red brick building, set on a stone foundation, was originally lit with coal lamps and two wood stoves in the basement. The lighting and heating has definitely been updated since that time. The seats were purchased from another church in Arthur which was buying new ones. The choir platform was added in 1900.
For more than a century, Christians have joined together in this building to lift up the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, recognizing the need to know Him as Lord and Savior. Accepting the fact that we all sinned, falling short of the glory of God, (Romans 3:10,Jesus died on the cross for our sins, was buried
