Who we are
History of Abba Father’s Christian Fellowship Church
The history of Abba Father’s Christian Fellowship Church is very brief considering we have completed our 2nd year. In October 2011 the lord placed on the hearts of Pastor Rony Harden, Sr. the vision to establish a work here in Kodiak, AK. Through thoughtful prayer and obedience he, his wife and faithful few gave birth to a ministry on January 15, 2012.
On that Sunday we met in the Kodiak Electric Association conference room for the first time. On that first Sunday we endured Pastor Harden’s Sermon through the bone chilling cold due to the fact that the heating system in the building had broken the previous Friday.
But if I was to tell the story of our 1st year it would go kind of like this: Thank you Father, for providing a building for the ministry to be launched. During our first year while were in the KEA building we walked up and down the 16 step to sign out the key at the power plant and drive back down to the main KEA building; 224 time for church services and 220 times for bible study.
The Lord taught us important lesion in the area of patience, causing us to grow in our spiritual walk, as we set up and took down the chairs in the conference room we were using 224 times for church services and cleaning up afterwards.
Meeting in a conference room didn’t lend to us adequate space to hold children’s church in the beginning. As we believed the Lord concerning the establishment of this ministry, children’s church was being held in the hallway downstairs. We were so blessed by the mothers who would volunteer each Sunday to teach the little ones about Jesus.
Halfway through our 2nd year, moving forward completely trusting God, in June 2013, we were blessed with our 1st permanent home. When we moved in the main sanctuary was about 90% complete but we moved in anyhow and have been serving the lord and being a blessing to this community ever since.
The Lord felt that there were lessons of patience still needed as for the past 12 months we have been blessed to systematically transform this old laundry mat into this beautiful edifice dedicated unto the Lord as you see it now.
Through the anointed leadership of our pastor Rony, we have learned that God has our back if we will simple trust and obey. Establishing a ministry from its beginning is not an easy undertaking but knowing that Jehovah-jireh, Lord My Provider, would provide the increase caused us to be renewed in our strength and enabled us to stay the course.
God gave us a Pastor who has been the watchman on the wall for us. He taught us to be prayers worriers for Christ. As a God chosen, dedicated, faithful body of believers, together we have touched the lives of many in our community.
We thank all Abba Father Members for giving so much of their time assisting in the work of the ministry as we grow together in faith. It is not about the number but about the hearts of the faithful few that has been knitted together in love by Our Father in heaven to complete the work of ministry.
It is by our love that they know that were are His Disciples, if we have love one to another as outlined in John 13:35. Thru the pain, thru the tears and ups and downs we made it.
Today is a new day. We smile because we know God is working in us and through us, Amen!
