Advent is a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in American (ELCA) and part of the Greater Milwaukee Synod. We are a Reconciling in Christ (RIC) church, which means we welcome all people, regardless of age, race, sexual orientation or gender identity.

Leader Bio:
Pastor Alexis Twito grew up in Milwaukee and graduated from Rufus King High School. She was ordained in 2010, and has served at several churches prior to Advent, both in Moorhead MN and the Milwaukee area. Pastor Alexis loves to travel, and explore other cultures and has a deep interest in all kinds of people.
Before entering seminary, she invested a year working with the homeless in Edinburgh, Scotland, through the ELCA’s Young Adults in Global Mission (YAGM) program. She has a deep and abiding passion for social justice and activism, going back to her teen years.
Immediately prior to her call to Advent, Pastor Alexis spent five years living out her faith and passion for justice as she built and coordinated a ministry of chaplains with the Salvation Army, caring for people at some of the worst moments of their lives.

"Yes, Lord"
"Yes, Lord! Jesus, I give all of this to you. Jesus," I just started out a dream for my neighbourhood. "I didn't ask you to make me a messenger to the world. I just wanted to love my neighbours. But Jesus, here it is. Here's my future, here's my loneliness, here are all the pressures, here are the criticism", and I gave Him everything. And I told Him to take me again and I would try to make "Yes, Lord" the continuing motto of my life..
