Bays Chapel History
This sweet country church was founded by settlers from Tennessee; the Thomas Bay family. The first log church, which was also used as a school, was built in 1851 on a site across the road and donated by A.F. Bay. The current building stands on land given by W. H. Bay was dedicated in 1899.
If you look on the ceiling and walls of the church you will see the hand prints left by the builders. The side door has a small footprint of a young child who was probably "helping" with the construction.
