Welcome to Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church
Beautiful Savior held its first service on November 1, 2009 and is a member of The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS). The congregation’s constitution was approved by the Texas District of the LCMS, and April 10, 2011 marked its Charter Sunday when the congregation was formally received into membership of the LCMS. The “Missouri Synod”, as it is often called, believes and teaches that the Bible is God’s inspired Word as it proclaims the good news of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The history of the Synod, which had its beginnings in 1847, is one of the great stories of blessings and challenges in American Christianity. Beautiful Savior, which has grown since it was founded, is grateful to be a part of the Synod’s story.

Pastor Shawn Lynn Deterding was born on July 26, 1967 to Darold and Willa Deterding in Meade, Kansas.
Upon graduating from high school Pastor Deterding attended St. John's College, our Synod's college, in Winfield, Kansas for one year before transferring to Concordia College in Ann Arbor, Michigan. After transferring to Wichita State University in Kansas, Pastor Deterding graduated with a B.A. in Secondary Education in 1991.
Pastor Deterding and Patricia (nee: Runyan), who met while they were serving at the outdoor ministry at Texhoma Lutheran Camp in Pottsboro, TX: were married on February 8, 1997. Mrs. Deterding completed her education at Concordia University in St. Paul, Minnesota, earning a B.A. in Early Childhood Education. God has blessed this union with seven children.
Pastor Deterding graduated from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis with a M. Div. degree in May of 2003. Previously, he has served as pastor at Christ the King in Lake Ozark, MO; Executive Director of Heit's Point Lutheran Camp in Lincoln, MO; pastor at Trinity in Clinton, MO; and pastor at Trinity in Salina, KS. He was installed as part-time Pastor at Beautiful Savior on July 10, 2016, replacing Pastor Wayne Renning.

The way, the truth, and the life
Lord Jesus, thou who art the way, the truth, and the life; hear us as we pray for the truth that shall make all free. Teach us that liberty is not only to be loved but also to be lived. Liberty is too precious a thing to be buried in books. It costs too much to be hoarded.
