Bethany Lutheran Church History
Nearly a century and a half ago five families, new to this country, started meeting in homes to hear the Gospel of Christ preached and to pass along their faith to their children. Just a few years later, in 1891, a church was built on donated land and Bethany Free Lutheran Church was incorporated in the town of Easton, Marathon County.
Recently our congregation returned to its heritage and became, once again, a free Lutheran congregation that focuses on the pure Gospel of Christ and the proper administering of the Holy Sacraments. We choose to affiliate with the LCMC which is an association of Lutheran congregations free in Christ.
While generations of members have come and gone, some of our current members are 4th and 5th generation members of Bethany. Besides those who are from the town of Easton in Marathon County, today’s members come from Langlade, Lincoln, and Shawano counties as well. A new generation of members of the Body of Christ, at Bethany, proclaiming the good news!

Eternal God, this holy night is radiant with the brilliance of your one true light. May that light illuminate our hearts and shine in our words and deeds. May the hope, the peace, the joy, and the love represented by the birth in Bethlehem this night fill our lives and become part of all that we say and do. May we share the divine life of your son Jesus Christ, even as he humbled himself to share our humanity. Amen.
