伯明罕華人基督教會為一不分宗派的教會團體，這些年來，教會事工都是由參與服事的信徒們分工合作，同心協力推動，而一切所需經費也是由信徒們自由奉獻而來，未接受其他任何教會及機構之資助。

伯明罕在1975年之前尚無以華語為主的基督徒聚會。約在1973年初由William L. Longshore夫婦組成國際查經班，由John Inman夫婦帶領查經。兩年後，那時參加國際查經班的有數家華人，因感到以英語查經我們的領悟力較差，故有組成中文查經班之議，經李東清與曾憲博弟兄之發起與鼓勵，及邱乾相，齊北城兩家之支持，乃決定組成中文查經班。中文查經班初成立時，由李，曾二弟兄輪流帶領並有美國友人協助嬰兒看顧及兒童教學。

中文查經班的名稱在1978年的一次家庭聚會中決定更名為 “伯明罕中國基督徒團契”。到1987年12月再將名稱中的中國二字改為 “華人”意在包括所有華人同胞在內，1989年3月26日復活節再改為 “伯明罕華人基督教會”。

1989年11月同工會決定邀請周孔道牧師來牧會，並於1990年10月開始成為伯明罕華人基督教會首任牧師，周牧師於1995年1月退休。主的恩典在一年半後於1996年7月帶領郭雲漢牧師一家來牧養本教會前後七年，於2003年8月離開本教會。在沒有牧者的三十一個月後帶領陳信銘傳道一家於2006年3月來到我們當中一起服事，陳傳道也於2007年3月3日在本教會被按立為牧師。同時在2007年我們也從Southside Baptist Church 遷入Birmingham International Church(BIC)聚會. 也進行了與BIC的合併計劃. 陳牧師在本教會服事了將近4年, 於2010年1月離開。雖然我們再一次面臨沒有牧師的境況，但因主的憐憫，讓我們在弟兄姊妹同心配搭下，教會的事工還是持續進行。與BIC 的合併計劃也在2011年中止. 經會友大會同意, 同時 神的靈的感動我們不斷的禱告，求祂賜下我們自己的教堂。

神進一步印證祂自己是教會的主，讓我們經過數月的等待與禱告. 終於在2012年2月7日賜給我們一個新教堂. 我們正式遷入的日期是2012年3月18日。感謝 神賜給我們這迦南美地. 相信 神要使用我們, 讓我們彼此相愛, 廣傳福音. 讓 神的心意透過我們這些不配的罪人, 努力來見證 神的榮耀！

Birmingham Chinese Christian Church (BCCC) is a non-denominational and financially independent church. BCCC has its very own campus here in town, where more than 100 people now gather each weekend. There is so much history behind this wonderful faith family–more than we have space to share on this page. But, if you keep reading, you’ll get a good overview of how it all came to be…

At the beginning of 1973, an International Bible Study Group was organized by William L. Longshore and led by John Inman. After two years, several individuals from China were actively participating in that group. The group dynamic was positive, but the language barrier remained…well, a barrier. For that reason, a few of the Chinese immigrants made a decision to form Birmingham’s very first Chinese-speaking Christian community in 1975. Dongqing Li, Herbert Tsang, Chayn Chiou, and Peicheng Chi led the way. In the early years of the resulting Chinese Bible Study, Brothers Li and Tsang served as the primary teachers, while English-speaking friends provided childcare.

The name of the Chinese Bible Study Group was changed to “The Birmingham Chinese Christian Fellowship” in 1978, and it continued to grow. By Easter of 1989, it was renamed one more time and registered as a non-profit organization in the state of Alabama. “Birmingham Chinese Christian Church” was officially born.

In November of 1989, the governing board decided to invite Rev. Kongdao Chou to join the ministry. In October of 1990, he formally became BCCC’s first pastor. He would continue in that role for five faithful years.

In July of 1996, the Lord led Rev. Yunhan Gwo to become the second pastor of the church. He served in that role all the way through August of 2003.

After an extended search, Brother Joseph Chen eventually arrived as our third pastor. It was March 3, 2007 when Brother Chen was ordained as the pastor by the church. 2007 proved to be a year of transition, as it also marks a change of location. After meeting in the facilities of Southside Baptist Church for years, we moved in with Vestavia Alliance Church (now Birmingham International Church). We even began merging with Birmingham International Church, but Pastor Chen resigned in January of 2010, and the merger plan was discontinued in 2011. Without a doubt, those changes led to a challenging season for BCCC, but the ministry persevered by the gracious hand of the Lord and the concerted efforts of lay brothers and sisters.

After much prayer, things started falling into place again in 2012. God provided BCCC with the campus that we are still enjoying today. The church officially moved into this facility on March 18, 2012. Some have referred to it as our own little “Promised Land.” Ultimately, the space serves as a base of operations for the worship, nurture, and mission that matter eternally.

2019 marked the 30th anniversary of BCCC, and we are now more excited about the future of our church than ever before. Because of the love of God, we continue to love others and seek the glory of God.
