This wood frame church in Birtle, in the Municipality of Prairie View, was built in 1917 using stained glass windows and wooden pews from an earlier Presbyterian church built in 1887. It was used for joint services of Presbyterian and Methodist congregations, eight years before formal unification of these faiths in Canada, becoming Birtle United Church in 1925. An educational wing, connected to the original sanctuary, was built in 1964, and renovations of the sanctuary occurred in 1982.
Among the clerics who served at Birtle United was Joseph Alexander “Alex” Stephen (1936-?).
