Pastor Derrick Payne grew up in Three Oaks, Michigan, attending Calvary Tabernacle. In 1995, he married Tammy Shepherd, another long-time member of Calvary. They have both served in the church for many years in various positions and have a great love for the people of Calvary. Pastor Derrick has served as youth pastor, outreach director, and associate pastor prior to being installed as the senior pastor in January of 2016.
His ministry is driven by a desire to see lives transformed through Jesus Christ! He strongly believes his ministry is not limited to the pulpit, but should be taken out into the community. Luke 14:23 states, "And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled."
