Who we are
The Church of the Ascension and St Luke’s Church had their last services in December 2011 and the team now works together in a different structure across the whole of the parish. We are now essentially one church for the whole of the parish, working together to serve our communities of Seacroft, Swarcliffe and Whinmoor, with Sunday congregations meeting at St James, St Richard’s and St Paul’s.

Church of the Ascension History
History of the Parish
There has been a Church at the heart of Seacroft since 1845, St James on the Seacroft Village Green. After the post-war expansion of the area and the resulting population growth other churches were built to serve the new estates.
The team ministry in Seacroft was created by a pastoral scheme on 9th July 1970. From its beginning, the team ministry consisted of five churches: St James’ serving the old village of Seacroft, St Richard’s serving the North Seacroft area, The Ascension serving the South Seacroft area, St Luke’s serving the Swarcliffe area, and St Paul’s serving the Whinmoor area.

We are now essentially one church for the whole of the parish, working together to serve our communities of Seacroft, Swarcliffe and Whinmoor, with Sunday congregations meeting at St James, St Richard’s and St Paul’s.
Today the team ministry serves a varied community with a population of around 36,000 people. As we cherish and value the rich heritage of the past, we are also stepping forward in faith, confident of bringing into being a new vision for the Church across our parish, which will enable us to create appropriate patterns of Christian ministry to take us forward in the third millennium.

submit yourself to Him
The will of God for your life is simply that you submit yourself to Him each day and say, "Father, Your will for today is mine. Your pleasure for today is mine. Your work for today is mine. I trust You to be God. You lead me today and I will follow."
