Who we are
The first Baptist church was formed in Brisbane in 1855. The first Church building was opened in Wharf Street in 1859. The church then moved to the present site on Wickham Terrace. This impressive building stands on one of the highest parts of the city and was opened to the glory of God in 1890. The first minister was called in 1858 and up to the present the Church has been served successfully by sixteen ministers. The membership of the Church is almost 300, and a number are presently engaged in missionary work in various places throughout the world.

Leader Bio:
Richard grew up on a farm in the Orange / Bathurst area of NSW. After completing a Business degree he worked as an accountant for 11 years. In 1985 Richard moved to Brisbane where he completed theological studies at the Baptist (Malyon) College. His first appointment was to Highfields Baptist, then to a role as Coordinator and later Leader of Mission to Queensland.
While working with MTQ Richard held various other positions with Queensland Baptists including Director of Special Focus Services and Acting Director of Church Extension Services.
From 2000 to 2012 Richard served at Cleveland Baptist, helping the church transition into a new worship facility. He retired from Cleveland in August 2012 and in 2013 helped to facilitate the amalgamation of Bayside and Eastside Baptist Churches. Richard completed a 17 month interim ministry at Beenleigh Baptist, then in 2015 he became the Interim Pastor at Rosewood Baptist Church. Richard has served as Interim Pastor at the City Tabernacle Baptist Church since February 2016.

Parking
On street parking is available accordance to street signage. On weekends the metered parking is generally not applicable on the northern (church) side of Wickham Terrace, however please note the local signage.
Alternatively, parking is available in the United Service Club car park. The entrance to this car parks is off Upper Edward Street. Please note park only in the uncovered lower car park areas. We are privileged to have this parking area made available to us by the Club for Sundays Service times only.
