Who we are
Welcome to the church of Christ on Slocumb Street, located in Goldsboro, NC.
We welcome to you come and worship with us every Sunday where you will find people who love the Lord and welcome visitors. We are a small, but trying to grow, church. This is our invitation to you and your family to become a part of the God’s family.
The Churches of Christ rely upon the Bible as its only religious authority. Members are called Christians as they were first called in the bible in Acts. The Church of Christ is not a modern denomination. The local churches are autonomous or independent, and follow the bible. Members acknowledge that true authority is from God and passed to Jesus Christ. We, as the church, follow the New Testament teachings and use the Old Testament as an example for learning (Romans 15:4). Accordingly, our worship consists of reading and preaching from the bible, partaking of the Lord's Supper, praying and singing of hymns, and giving as we have prospered.

Leader Bio:
Stoney M. King has been the minister at the Slocumb St. congregation since January 2008 following more than 20 years of military service in the U.S. Army retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer Three. Born in Lafayette, AL, he spent the greater part of his childhood in Melbourne, FL attending the Florida Ave. Church of Christ. He attended the Brevard County public school system graduating from Palm Bay Senior High School in 1982. Upon graduation from high school, Stoney attended Southwestern Christian College (SWCC), Terrell, TX from 1982 – 1984. Accolades: Voted Mr. Southwestern 1993 by his peers. Recognized for his academic excellence in “Who’s Who Among Junior Colleges”, 1982.He is scheduled to complete the course study for his Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management June 2012 from the University of Phoenix.
He is married to the former Kia S. (Johnson) who grew up as a member of the Simpson St. Church of Christ, Atlanta, GA. They met while attending SWCC. They are blessed with three wonderful children, Questoveus, LaQuondra, Quentin and one grandchild, Quintessa (Tessa).
