Covenant Presbyterian Church, located on 166 Pigeon Street, Waynesville, NC was formed in 1973 at the same time as the founding of the Presbyterian Church in America.
We invite you to visit Covenant Presbyterian Church of Waynesville whether you are a longtime resident, new resident, or simply a tourist enjoying the beauty of the mountains of WNC. Our small, but enthusiastic congregation will be only too happy to make you feel at home.
Covenant Presbyterian Church of Waynesville is a congregation under the auspices of The Western Carolina Presbytery (http://www.pcawcp.org/) which holds to a Biblically based, Conservative, and Reform view of the Christian faith.
The name "Presbyterian" is based on an Old English word meaning "elder", and refers to the polity of the denomination, being elder ruled, based on the principles of scripture, and with the insight and approval of the congregation in electing elders. (The United States Constitution was considerably based on this form of polity when it was written).
The "Reform belief" refers to the holding of a set of doctrinal standards adopted by the PCA at its formation in 1973, but originally established by the Westminster Assembly in the 1600s (with a few small revisions). Based fully on scripture these standards are held by a number of Reform Denominations worldwide, and include the Westminster Confession of Faith, The Larger Catechism, and The Shorter Catechism.

Leader Bio:
Larry and his wife Bonnie are natives of Garner, NC and arrived at Covenant in May of 1997, first as a stated supply minister and then ordained and installed as pastor in May of 1999. He is a graduate of Greenville Presbyterian Theological Seminary. Larry loves spending time with his wife, two daughters and their husbands, a son, and five grandchildren. Larry loves good food (including cooking), music, movies, books, roller coasters, and laughing. He believes in glorifying and enjoying God in all that he does.
