Leader Bio:
Pastor Phil Harris has received a rich Christian heritage. His maternal great grandparents served as house parents at the Home for Children in Sevierville, Tennessee, and he grew in a Church of God minister’s home.
After graduating from Lee University in 1994, Phil served in diverse ministry roles and environments. His journey of 20+ years took him to New York City, Birmingham, AL, Tallahassee, FL, and Lawrenceville, GA. In 2016 he earned a Master of Theological Studies from the Pentecostal Theological Seminary.
Phil and his wife Evie have two children: Blake and Anna Brooke.

Cross Connection Church of God History
The origin of our church began in 1953 with 10 founding members and was named West Kingsport Church of God under the leadership and vision of Pastors George and Edith McGuire. The small yet dedicated congregation met in storefront locations in Kingsport until they hand-built their first church on Virgil Avenue. In 1978, due to city growth and highway expansions, the church relocated to its’ existing site located at 644 Granby Road. The church has always been blessed with committed, spirit-led and loving families. Its’ goal has always been to preach the Word of God and follow the vision and mandate of saving souls.
The church has been led by five visionary pastors. The pastor’s names and vision as shown in the church name is below:
