Leader Bio:
Tom was appointed to Dahlgren United Methodist Church in July 2015. His educational background includes a Bachelor of Science degree from Eastern Mennonite University in Harrisonburg, Virginia and a Master of Divinity degree from Duke University Divinity School in Durham, North Carolina. He has been serving churches in the Virginia Annual Conference since 1979 and was ordained an elder in 1984.
Tom’s interest lies particularly in developing congregations as centers for Discipleship, Witness and Outreach in the name and power of Jesus Christ. His passion is helping persons experience and sustain a solid relationship with God.
Prior to entering ministry full time, Tom was a carpenter with experience in commercial and residential construction. Since then he has enjoyed employing his knowledge of building things by volunteering for Disaster Response projects in six states, Mexico and Haiti. When Hurricane Isabell struck the Virginia coast in 2003 he helped organize response efforts and managed rebuilding efforts in three counties in the Northern Neck, representing the United Methodist Committee on Relief.

Help my unbelief
Dear God, help my unbelief. When I'm in pain, I forget that you care about me. I forget that you have helped me through my trials. I forget that you hold me in your arms to keep me safe. I forget that you are feeling my pain with me. I forget that you love me, I forget that I am important to you. Show me your presence - let me feel your enveloping love. Heal my hurting soul. Thank you for staying with me even in my unbelief.
