Leader Bio:
On September 7, 2008 Pastor Kappel became the Senior Pastor of Faith Lutheran Church & School in Eustis, Florida.
Marc Kappel was born in Fargo, North Dakota on October 7, 1969 to Larry and Jerre Kappel. He is the eldest of two sons; his younger brother is Jay Kappel who lives in Denver with his wife Maria and his two kids; Isabella and Joseph.
Marc lived in the mid-western and northeastern states during his youth. He graduated from Heritage High School in Littleton, Colorado. Marc served in the Army Reserve for 6 years after high school and attended undergraduate school at the University of Nebraska and met his wife, Marcy, at the University Lutheran Chapel in Lincoln, Nebraska. They were married July 6, 1991. Marc graduated from Metropolitan State College of Denver in August of 1993 with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
Marc worked in customer service for various companies after college graduation until he went to Concordia Seminary the summer of 1996. He served his vicarage 1998-1999 in Memphis, Tennessee. He served at Trinity Lutheran and Cross of Calvary Lutheran Churches. His bishops were Dr. Ron Wiese and Rev. Wallace Shifflet. Prior to vicarage, Marc and Marcy had their son, Micah, on July 2, 1998.
In May of 2000, Pastor Kappel graduated from Concordia Seminary. His call out of seminary was to St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Middleburg, Florida. Pastor Kappel served as the sole pastor to St. Peter's for 8 years. During Pastor Kappel's tenure at St. Peter's, he served as the First Coast Circuit Outreach counselor, as VP of the Jacksonville Circuit Outreach Committee as well as encouraged St. Peter's to sponsor a sister church in Starke, Florida which was chartered in 2007. While at St. Peter's, Pastor Kappel and Marcy had their second son, Matthew, on March 20, 2001.
Pastor Kappel continues to serve with passion for the gospel and the tradition of the Lutheran Church that serves as the most effective framework for sharing that Gospel. Now going on his fourth year as senior pastor he continues to be awed by the passion of the staff and church as they continue to grow in reaching out to the community and continued support and building up of the school ministry. He looks forward to many happy years of service to come. Â
