Who we are
We are a congregation that is on the way. We’re on the way to softer hearts, more open hands and minds, and more tired feet from walking in the way of Jesus.
We are a congregation of human beings. We are a congregation of people who are 100 percent saint and 100 percent sinner all at the same time. Expect imperfection. Expect beauty.
We are the body of Christ. Our church is made up of all kinds of people, with all kinds of stories. Some of our members came to us as babies and others came to us as adults. Some are lifelong Lutherans, some are ex-Catholics, and some were not religiously affiliated before coming to us. Some came because going to church is just what you do, while others came because they were seeking something deeper for their lives. Some are children, some are young parents, and some are widows and elders.
We are a bunch of people that God is making into the body of Jesus; a body that goes where God goes and does what God does, bringing light to dark places and healing salve to the wounds of the world.

Faith Lutheran Church History
Faith Lutheran Church was organized as a mission congregation in 1953 by a pastor named Rev. J.J. Lippolt. The church was formed on the growing edge of the city of Joliet. Where the people went, the church went also.
We began in the auditorium of Pershing Elementary School, our neighbor to the south, proving what the old children’s song professes, “The church is not a building, the church is not a steeple, the church is not a resting place, the church is the people.”
Then in 1957, after the congregation had grown to a considerable size, Faith moved into our present day building.
We've been lead by 8 different pastors, held over well over 5,000 worship services, raised up seminarians and fostered the growth of seminary interns, and nourished the faith of thousands of people.

Lord, teach me to listen.
The times are noisy and my ears are weary with the thousand raucous sounds which continuously assault them. Give me the spirit of the boy Samuel when he said to Thee, "Speak, for Thy servant heareth." Let me hear Thee speaking in my heart. Let me get used to the sound of Thy voice, that its tones may be familiar when the sounds of earth die away and the only sound will be the music of Thy speaking. Amen.
