Who we are
With the universal Christian Church, The Lutheran Church Missouri Synod teaches and responds to the love of the Triune God - the Father (creator of all that exists), Jesus Christ the Son (who became human to suffer and die for the sins of all human beings and to rise to life again in the ultimate victory over death and Satan), the Holy Spirit (who creates faith through God's Word and Sacraments). The three persons of the Trinity are coequal and coeternal, one God.
Being "Lutheran," our congregations accept and teach Bible-based teachings of Martin Luther that inspired the reformation of the Christian Church in the 16th century. The teaching of Luther and the reformers can be summarized in three short phrases: Faith alone, Scripture alone, Grace alone.
...In Faith Alone - that the gift of faith in Jesus Christ alone brings us to the grace of God. [... "(You), who through faith are shielded by God's power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. " 1 Peter 1:5]
...In Scripture Alone - that the Bible is the true and inerrant Word of God, written by the Holy Spirit through the prophets, and is the only true source of Christian doctrine. [ "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." 2 Timothy 3:16-17]
...In Grace Alone - that we are not saved by any merit or deed of our own, but by the grace of God only.["For it is by grace that you have been saved, through faith -- and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God -- not by works, so that no one can boast. " Ephesians 2:8-9]
...In Word and Sacrament - that is through Scripture that God reveals Himself to us, as well as His plan of salvation for us. The means by which God provides His grace (forgiveness) to His people are through Baptism and the Lord's Supper.[He replied, "Blessed rather are those who hear the Word of God and obey it." Luke 11:28]

Love me, Lord, just for today
Lord, for tomorrow and its needs, I do not pray; Keep me, my God, from stain of sin just for today. Let me both diligently work, And duly pray. Let me be kind in word and deed, Just for today. Let me be slow to do my will, Prompt to obey; Help me to sacrifice myself Just for today. And if today my tide of life should ebb away, Give me thy sacraments divine, Sweet Lord today. So for tomorrow and its needs I do not pray, But keep me, guide me, love me, Lord, Just for today.
