Who we are
First Baptist Church of Maumelle (FBCM) began it’s ministry on September 25, 1977, when ten people joined together to become its first members. The Arkansas Baptist State Convention loaned us a trailer which had an auditorium area and 2 Sunday School rooms. A church member donated a small regular trailer to be used as nursery and Sunday School space. A Christian school adjacent to the church property offered to let the church use part of the school building for Sunday School space. We later purchased this building when the Christian school closed.
FBCM called Rev. Cline Ellis as our first pastor. The church continued to grow as Steve Wilkes became our pastor. Under his leadership the church outgrew the trailer and the two-story building was renovated to accommodate our growth.
In December of 1983 the we completed an auditorium and children’s wing. Throughout the 80’s, FBCM would see a transition as Marty Brown became pastor in October of 1985 and then Billy Hammonds in January of 1988.
After a fruitful ministry, Billy Hammonds moved to a new ministry and we called Rev. John Matthews in May of 1993 as our pastor. In December of 1998 the church called Dr. Jeff Beshears. Under his leadership the church experienced much growth and expanded the facilities to include a new auditorium and space for 12 new classrooms. Dr. Beshears left FBC Maumelle in August of 2009. Between 2009 and 2012, Bro. Paul McClung was called as interim pastor with Johnny Jackson serving as an intentional interim. They both provided steady leadership during that time of transition. In the spring of 2012 we called Bro. Tony Auxier as pastor, but Bro. Paul McClung stepped back in as interim pastor when Tony left in the spring of 2013.
During the summer of 2014 FBCM called Dr. Chris Larmoyeux as pastor. Since then, the church is seeing a revitalization as new vision is being cast. We’re seeing new people join our church, lives being changed by the Gospel, the Church body growing in fellowship and becoming a church that actively seeks to reach our community and world for Jesus!

I ask for...
I ask you neither for health nor for sickness, for life nor for death; but that you may dispose of my health and my sickness, my life and my death, for your glory... You alone know what is expedient for me; you are the sovereign master, do with me according to your will. Give to me, or take away from me, only conform my will to yours. I know but one thing, Lord, that it is good to follow you, and bad to offend you. Apart from that, I know not what is good or bad in anything. I know not which is most profitable to me, health or sickness, wealth or poverty, nor anything else in the world. That discernment is beyond the power of men or angels, and is hidden among the secrets of your providence, which I adore, but do not seek to fathom.
