“We exist to make disciples here, and everywhere, for the glory of God!”
What is First Baptist all about? That’s easy—we’re about Jesus! We’re a church filled with ordinary people who have been rescued by an extraordinary Savior! And we want to be about the task Jesus gave His church in Matthew 28:19-20 when He said: “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.”
We believe disciple-making has to start with us! We want to grow every day in understanding what it means to follow Jesus and live lives shaped by the Gospel. We also believe though that making disciples doesn’t end with us—we’re called to encourage one another in this community we’re a part of called the church. We understand also that Christ’s call to make disciples extends beyond the walls of the church into the community around us, and into the world. That’s our mission—to share Christ’s love so that new disciples will be formed here in Melbourne and around the world!
