Who we are
Our Mission:
Love. Serve. Give.
As you may have seen on the home page, we exist to "Make Disciples Who Make Disciples." But a deeper question is, "How do we do this?" There are three primary ways we make disciples: We love. We serve. We give.
Love.
There are two primary ways we do this. We are called to 1) love God completely and 2) love others compassionately. These come directly from the Great Command that Jesus gives in Matthew 22:37-40.
Matthew 22:37-40 (ESV)
And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.”
Serve.
We believe God has called us to serve one another selflessly. This pours out of the great love that God has shown to us through His Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus said that He did not come to Earth in order to be served, but to serve and to give His life as a ransom for many (Matthew 20:28). Just as He laid His own life down for you and me, we are called to lay our lives down in service to one another.
Philippians 2:3 (ESV)
Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.
Give.
Because He has already given us so much, we believe God has called us to give back to him sacrificially in three primary areas: Our time, our talents, and our treasures. The Bible teaches that we give not in order to gain blessings from God, but because we have received blessings already. God already owns everything (Psalm 24:1). We give back to Him because He has so graciously given to us.
2 Corinthians 9:6-8 (ESV)
The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.
