Who we are
Who We Are...
First Baptist Church of Kenai is a loving and caring family of believers that loves the Lord and seeks to magnify Jesus on the Kenai Peninsula and beyond. We have been here serving the Lord for over 50 years and have a long history of planting churches, changing lives, restoring families and living authentic lives before our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Our Motto is from Ephesians 4:15; “Speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ.” Thus we are committed to speaking the truth in love and growing more like Christ every day!
Glorify God...
Above all, we seek to glorify (praise, exalt, magnify) God. We do this through enthusiastic worship and fervent prayer. We have a vibrant music program that includes a blended worship service on Sunday mornings, multiple Worship teams with talented singers and musicians. Our Wednesday night prayer meetings and Sunday morning times of prayer help us focus our thoughts on our great Savior, Jesus Christ.
"Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you. I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands." (Psalm 63: 3-4 NIV)
Edify the Body...
This means to strengthen the Body of Believers in Jesus Christ (the Church). We do this by sound teaching that is Biblically based. All our programs and other studies prepare us to to serve God and to be a witness to others through word and deed.
"If you are praising God with your spirit, how can one who finds himself among those who do not understand say "Amen" to your thanksgiving, since he does not know what you are saying? You may be giving thanks well enough, but the other man is not edified." (1 Corinthians 14:16-17 NIV)
"For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope." (Romans 15:4 NIV)
Reach the Lost...
We seek to fulfill the Great Commission of Jesus Christ, which states: "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you." (Matthew 28:19-20 NIV)
Our motivation to proclaim the Good News is so that Jesus will save non-believers is this: "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 6:23 NIV)
We have this assurance that, if we are saved, we have a place in Heaven: "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith- and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God- not by works, so that no one can boast." (Ephesians 2:8-9 NIV)
