Who we are
OUR MISSION
MISSION STATEMENT:
Exalt the Lord Jesus Christ Edify the Believer Evangelize the Lost
OUR VISION
No matter your stage in life, there is a place for you every week here at First Baptist Church. Children, teens, young adults, couples, and mature families are all finding God’s grace and practical bible principles that make a difference in their lives. Our purpose is to love God and have a personal relationship with Him. We grow together, in Christ, through the study of His Word.
OUR CORE VALUES
We value the preaching and teaching of the Bible We believe the Bible is God’s Word, and has authority over us in all matters of faith and living. We are committed to equipping Christian’s, through the preaching and teaching of God’s Word, to follow Christ in every area of life.
We value prayer We believe that God desires His people to pray and that He hears and answers prayer. Therefore, the ministries and activities of First Baptist Church are characterized by our reliance on God through prayer.
We value ministry
We believe that the primary responsibility of the Pastor and teachers of First Baptist Church is to prepare God’s people for service. As the people are prepared through training, leadership, responsibility, and accountability, ministry is accomplished.
We value excellence All that God does is done in excellence, and we labor to follow His example. We believe that Jesus Christ deserves the best we can offer. As His servants, we strive to live and minister with all our hearts, as working for Christ, and not men. This is achieved when every person uses his God-given special gift to the best of their ability.
We value growth We believe that God desires us to reach as many people as possible with the life changing message of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and then to see them grow spiritually. Therefore, we pursue that which will allow us to grow numerically without compromising, in any way, our integrity or our commitment to the Bible.
We value people God values people so much that He gave His only Son, Jesus Christ, for us. Because people matter to God, they matter to us. At First Baptist Church we are unwilling that any person should miss an opportunity to hear the good news of what God has done for them. We orient our church and our individual lives so as to give every person an opportunity to respond to Jesus. We seek to build authentic relationships and friendships with each other. Because we value people, the needs, concerns and issues which are important to people are important to us.
First Baptist Church has been, and will continue to be, a lighthouse of truth in the Webster area standing true to the Word of God.

CHILDREN'S MINISTRY
At First Baptist Church, we recognize that our children are the future of our church. We have designed programs to meet their particular needs. Our desire is to see them learn God’s Word, grow in the love and knowledge of Jesus Christ, and serve the Lord – even as children.
During our 10:00 a.m. Sunday School hour, our caring teachers use a quality curriculum, which includes an exciting Bible story, coloring sheets, crafts, and Bible memorization to help reinforce what was taught in class.
Summer is always a great time for kids at FBC. Vacation Bible School is always a highly anticipated event. If you have a desire to see your child develop a heart for God and have fun at the same time, FBC is definitely the place to be!

First Baptist Church of Webster History
HISTORY OF FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH OF WEBSTER, MA
In 1731 a Baptist assembly was formed in Dudley, MA. By 1744, it had become the Baptist Assembly of Dudley. It was formerly organized as the Baptist Church of Dudley on October 26, 1814. In 1832, Webster was incorporated as a town and the Baptist Church of Dudley changed its name to First Baptist Church of Webster. The membership at that time was 141. Town business was conducted at the “Baptist Meetinghouse.” The first official meeting of the town in the “Baptist Meetinghouse” was on April 12, 1832. In March of 1833, it was voted to have a bell at the “Baptist Meetinghouse” ring every day at noon and at 9 p.m. (The original bell is still in the bell tower of the church building). This continued until 1850. The last church service in the “Baptist Meetinghouse” was held on September 29, 1868. The present stone building was completed in 1867, and the old wood Meetinghouse was moved to a vacant lot at South Village. The cost to build the present stone building was believed to be roughly $38,000.
In 1974, Pastor Sherwin Day separated First Baptist Church from the American Baptist Association and established it as an Independent, Fundamental Baptist Church; he pastored the church from 1974 to 1986. Pastor Thomas Harmon pastored the church from 1986 to 2017. On July 1, 2017, Pastor Douglas Conley became the new pastor of First Baptist Church.

Give to us clear vision that we may know where to stand and what to stand for -- because unless we stand for something, we shall fall for anything.
