Who we are
Who We Are
First United Methodist Church of Gallatin has been a place of worship in the Wesleyan Tradition since 1788 when there were only a few Methodist Societies in Sumner County. In 1828 this church officially became First Methodist Church of Gallatin. Over the 170 plus years of its existence First United Methodist Church has sought to fulfill Jesus’ call for His followers to proclaim the Gospel to the world. As the years have passed and many changes have taken place, yet one thing has remained true for us, the necessity to love God wholeheartedly, and to serve our neighbor with the unconditional, and never failing love of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

First United Methodist Church Service Times
Sunday Morning Worship
8:30 Blended Worship
Early worship at 8:30 is a blend of traditional and contemporary worship elements in a more casual setting. There is a combination of hymns and praise songs along with some of the traditional Methodist Wesleyan liturgy. There is a praise band and singers who lead in the music worship time, along with piano accompaniment and other instrumentalists. Communion is open and served on the first Sunday of each month and other holy holidays.
11:00 Traditional Worship
Late worship at 11:00 is a traditional service with choir and ministers wearing robes. The music is primarily hymns and "anthems", led by the choir, using organ and piano mainly with some special soloists and instrumentalists. The order of worship follows the traditional Wesleyan Methodist liturgy with responsive readings and choral responses. Communion is open and served on the first Sunday of each month and other holy holidays.

Lord Jesus, thou who art the way, the truth, and the life; hear us as we pray for the truth that shall make all free. Teach us that liberty is not only to be loved but also to be lived. Liberty is too precious a thing to be buried in books. It costs too much to be hoarded. Help us see that our liberty is not the right to do as we please, but the opportunity to please to do what is right.
