WE ARE AN INDEPENDENT FUNDAMENTAL BAPTIST CHURCH
We are a local New Testament Church located in the city of El Monte, California.
WHAT WE BELIEVE
"And how I kept back nothing that was profitable unto you..."
DOCTRINAL STATEMENT
"But thou hast fully known my doctrine..." THE BIBLE
We believe that the King James Bible is the inspired and preserved Word of God for the English-speaking people. It is the inerrant and infallible perfect word of God. We reject all modern perversions of the Bible (Psalm 12:6-7, 2 Timothy 3:16, 2 Peter 1:19-21) SALVATION
We believe that salvation is by faith alone in Jesus Christ without works. This includes by but not limited to (repenting of your sins to be saved, baptismal regeneration, or anything that required works to be saved.) (John 3:36, Acts 16:30-31, Ephesians 2:8-9) ETERNAL SECURITY
We believe in the eternal security of the believer. Once you are saved, you can never lose, forfeit, or "give up" your salvation. (Titus 1:2, John 1:12, Hebrews 10:39) HEAVEN & HELL
We believe that the saved will live forever with God and that the unsaved will be damned forever in torment in a literal place called hell. (Romans 6:23. Revelation 20:14-15, Revelation 21:8)
BAPTISM
We believe in the first step of obedience after salvation known as baptism. Once a person believes on the Lord for salvation, they are commanded to be baptized by immersion in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. We reject "Jesus only" baptism. (Matthew 28:19-20) THE TRINITY
We are Trinitarians and we reject modalism. (1 John 5:7, John 1:1, 1 Corinthians 15:27-28, John 8:16-18, John 17:5)
DISPENSATIONALISM
We reject all forms of dispensationalism. We believe salvation has always been by grace through faith throughout all ages. We believe in the visible and local New Testament Church. We reject the teaching of a universal church as well as church ages. (Acts 10:43, Ephesians 3:21)
THE RAPTURE
We believe in the physical second coming of Jesus Christ after the tribulation but before God pours out His wrath upon the earth. We hold to a post-tribulation pre-wrath rapture. (Matthew 24:29-31, Revelation 6, 1 Thessalonians 4)
CALVINISM
We reject all five points of Calvinism and believe that God wants everyone to be saved. ( 1Timothy 4:10, 2 Peter 3:9)
SODOMY
We believe that homosexuality is a sin and an abomination which God punishes with the death penalty. (Leviticus 20:13)
VIEWS WE OPPOSE
We oppose worldliness, modernism, formalism, and liberalism. (1 John 2:15)

Pastor Mejia is a California native. He was saved in 2007. He helped to start a thriving church plant out of his home church under the training of his Pastor. In 2015 he and Sarah married, and they have three children. In 2017, Pastor Steven Anderson and Faithful Word Baptist started FWBC of Los Angeles, and Pastor Mejia spearheaded the effort as an evangelist for two years. The church multiplied and hundreds of souls were saved. On Friday, August 9, Pastor Mejia was ordained as pastor of the church plant, and First Works Baptist Church was established.
He currently has a youtube channel dedicated to bringing biblical content through preaching, a podcast, short clips, and biblical films.
