Who we are
Have you ever wondered if God is real, or is Jesus the Son of God, or am I really forgiven? Let us tell you, you are not alone. For many years people have asked those very questions. Here at Freedom Church, we help you discover those answers for yourself as we share God’s word during Sunday morning church services and how to “live it out” in our weekly Small groups. You will not only find the answers you seek but feel the love of God and know the power of His Son.
WHY FREEDOM
At Freedom Church, we believe that we have all been set free through the love (blood) of Jesus Christ through His work on the cross. “For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters….use your freedom to serve one another in love. For the whole law can be summed up …”Love your neighbor as yourself” (Galatians 5:13-14)
It is our mission to share this message of hope, through His Word, His love, and His power. We believe that through Christ’s death on the cross, we can overcome all obstacles, bondage, and even addictions through His name. We believe in His divine deliverance in all areas of our lives. “Whom the Son sets free is free indeed,” John 8:38
It is our commitment and our legacy to disciple others, believing that Christ’s last command still holds true for us today. “Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.” Matt. 28:19
It is our joy in Christ that gives our Heavenly Father glory!! Therefore, it is our firm belief that every part of our lives is given over to His glory, which will result in a legacy of joy for His Church and a witness of our lives “in Christ.”
The people here at Freedom Church believe that these things will be done, not by us, but by the Holy Spirit working through us. This same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead shall energize our mortal bodies we live in to show the love, peace, and joy to the people in Cameron Park and the surrounding areas.

Freedom Church History
On November 1, 1986, in the town of El Dorado, Pastor Leon Chambers held the first service for what was then called the El Dorado Assembly of God. The small congregation moved to Placerville a short time later because they were able to rent commercial space at the Forestry building off Forni Road.
When Pastor Chambers suddenly became too ill to pastor full-time, he resigned, and inFebruary of 1987, the congregation elected Bobby Jones to be their Senior Pastor. Under the leadership of Pastor Bobby Jones and his wife Sharon, the church began to grow as they continued to meet in rented facilities in Placerville until 1990. During this time they applied for and received sovereign church status with the General Council of the Assemblies of God. The church grew from approximately 35 members to 80 members.
In 1990, the church moved to Cameron Park, CA to plant a church in that area since another Assembly of God church already existed in Placerville. It was at this time that they changed their name to Cameron Park Christian Center to better identify with the community that was now their new home. They met in the gymnasium at Camaro Springs Middle School on Sunday mornings, and they leased office space in Burke’s Junction Shopping Center that was formerly known as “Sam’s Town” near the freeway. The church continued to grow and averaged over 100 in attendance.
In 1993, the church bought property in the Barnett Business Park and built a facility of 6500 square feet that houses a worship auditorium, kitchen, multi-purpose room, nursery, and offices. Pastor Bobby Jones, who had served the church for 16 years felt a calling to resign in 2003 and pastor an international English speaking church in Spain. The Church awarded him with a plaque that gave him the title “Pastor Emeritus.”
Another shift in leadership for a few years while Marty Swift was elected to fill the office of Senior Pastor in 2004, and served until 2007. Reverend Glen Cole, the former Senior Pastor of Capital Christian Center, and Trinity Life in Sacramento became the interim pastor. Pastor Bobby Jones was returning from the mission field, and Pastor Cole and the congregation of CPCC invited Pastor Bobby to come home and re-elected him as their Senior Pastor. In 2014 Pastor Bobby retired as senior pastor, and the church invited his son Robert to be their new pastor on February 23rd. Pastor Rob and his wife April served as lead pastors until 2018. In 2017, Cameron Park Christian Center changed its name to Freedom Church. The church also purchased a 10-acre parcel off Highway 50. This land will become the future home of Freedom Church and it’s ministries.
In October 2018, Pastors G. Scott and Colleen Williams became the lead pastors. They have served as pastors in several states over the past 30 years. Their heart and passion is to see the Freedom Church become a major influence for Christ in El Dorado County and around the world.
