Who we are
Our Denomination's Mission…
Today we continue our devotion to creating disciples for Jesus Christ and making the good news available to anyone who desires to hear it. All preaching and teaching is grounded in Scripture, informed by Christian tradition, enlivened by personal experience, and tested by reason. Along with other Christian denominations, we believe in God – expressed as Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
The United Methodist Church is part of the church universal. All persons, regardless of race, color, national origin, status, or economic condition, are welcome to attend our churches, receive Holy Communion, and be baptized and admitted into membership.
Our Beliefs…
The heart of our Christian faith is Christ’s ministry of outreaching love. We are all called to minister wherever Christ would have us work to heal and free others. United Methodists believe in God’s grace, which means the unearned and loving action of God in our daily lives. In spite of suffering, violence, and evil in the world, we assert that God’s grace exists everywhere. Despite any circumstance, we remain creatures brought to life by a just and loving God. The reign of God is both a present and a future reality.
Our Mission in Green Village…
The purpose of the church is to provide opportunities for the worship of God and for the Christian Education of all our members, children and adults. We are called to provide a visible Christian presence in our community and to serve as the home base from which to reach out to others in the name of Jesus Christ.
Our church is a vehicle to assist persons in their on-going search for God and God’s will in their lives. The church is a place where individuals should be accepted, made to feel that they belong and where they can find meaning and self-worth. Our church is a catalyst promoting individual re-evaluation in the light of the biblical standards of our faith, and reaching out to minister physically and spiritually to those in need.
We further recognize that we are Christians in the Methodist tradition, and a part of our purpose is to participate fully in the larger structure of the United Methodist Church through our prayers, our gifts and our service.
We Pride Our self On…
Remaining a small, vibrant country church in a suburban area. We offer a community small enough to know each member’s name but large enough to offer meaningful programs and ample opportunities for fellowship.

Green Village United Methodist Church History
The first Methodist clergy appeared in Green Village in 1828. Methodism started slowly in Green Village until 1842. In 1842, two young men, who had returned to the area – Ellis Parcells and Levi Muchmore – began holding Methodist services in Ellis Parcells’ home. By 1843, the first Methodist Episcopal Church was dedicated in Green Village. For over 160 years we have been a visible Christian presence and witness in the community.

I ask you neither for health nor for sickness, for life nor for death; but that you may dispose of my health and my sickness, my life and my death, for your glory... You alone know what is expedient for me; you are the sovereign master, do with me according to your will. Give to me, or take away from me, only conform my will to yours. I know but one thing, Lord, that it is good to follow you, and bad to offend you. Apart from that, I know not what is good or bad in anything. I know not which is most profitable to me, health or sickness, wealth or poverty, nor anything else in the world. That discernment is beyond the power of men or angels, and is hidden among the secrets of your providence, which I adore, but do not seek to fathom.
