Leader Bio:
A native of the Philippines, Noel is an ordained minister of the United Church of Christ in the Philippines who graduated from Union Theological Seminary and later pursued the Master of Ecumenical Studies at the University of Geneva in Switzerland. Prior to coming to Canada, he taught in the Union Theological Seminary.
He is presently on an exchange program arranged between the United Church of Canada and the United Church of Christ in the Philippines. He also serves on the Canadian Council of churches.
Noel has a very warm, open personality and he loves to visit whether it be with members of the congregation in their homes, neighbours in their yards or casual acquaintances he meets on the street.
In his short four year stay, he has come to love Manitoba for its beauty, its people and the fishing opportunities that feed one of his many passions.
Noel is married to Ronie ( Veronica) and they are living in the United Church manse. They have three grown children; two are living in the Philippines and one is living in Kansas with his wife and five year old son.
Since coming to Hamiota, Noel and Ronie are enjoying learning about rural life and we are looking forward to their stay here.

Hamiota United Church History
Hamiota United Church was formed on 30 June 1930 from the union of Knox United Church and Zion United Church. The joined congregation used the former Zion Church, built in 1914, for services. Rev. R.E. McCullagh presided over the newly amalgamated congregation. The Knox Church structure was sold to the congregation of Decker in 1934. An extension on the north end of the church was built 1962. The addition was named "Chumah Hall" after many from Chumah's former congregation amalgamated with that of Hamiota after their church closed in the early 1950s. In 1952, Hamiota joined with Oakner and formed a two-point pastoral charge. In 1969, the Parkland Parish was formed and included points at Hamiota, Oakner, Kenton, Tarbolton and Shiloh. This arrangement lasted until 1973. After 1973, Hamiota and Oakner became a two-point charge again. Since Oakner's closure in 2000, Hamiota United Church has been an independent church in the Assiniboine Pastoral charge.
