Who we are
Welcome
Whether you are seeking to know more about Jesus Christ, or long to be a part of a community of people who are passionate about following Jesus, you are welcome here. Here at Harvest Bible Chapel we believe life’s greatest satisfaction is found in a relationship with God through Jesus Christ and that He liberates us from our sin and corresponding guilt. We are committed, therefore, to laying out the biblical picture of this glorious God and modeling our lives and love after Jesus. So convinced of Christ’s power to transform our broken lives, we want others to experience this with us.
Personality
In coming to Harvest you would find people who are thirsty for God, who seek to know Him through careful study of the Word of God by the illuminating power of the Holy Spirit. You will see people who are filled with worship in their hearts and desirous to express it to God in song. You will see a happy marriage between freedom in worship and rigorous Bible study. You will find people who are seeking to grow in likeness to Jesus and who also want to see the community around them redeemed by Jesus.
Mission
The mission of Harvest Bible Chapel Rockford is to glorify God through the fulfillment of the Great Commission. Our obedience to this mission is the foundation of every Harvest ministry. From worship services to Children's Ministry to Student and Adult Ministries, our chief aim is to make authentic disciples of Christ who follow His ways in their Worship, their Walk, and their Work.
History
Harvest Bible Chapel in Rockford was launched in March of 2003 after months of prayer and preparation by approximately 25 men and women committed to planting a new church in this city. Harvest is part of a larger fellowship of churches stemming from the original Harvest Bible Chapel of Rolling Meadows. As of October 2007, we moved from meeting in a local high-school to purchasing our own building and property located on 5501 Windsor Road in Loves Park, a suburb of Rockford.

Leader Bio:
John Dirkse is married to the sunshine of his life, Betsey and they are both from the west coast, Washington State and Southern California. Together they share 5 fantastic children, Luke, Lissy, Lauren, Emma, and Olivia. Three are currently at the Master’s University while the younger two are in high school. In 1982 the Lord radically changed John’s life and ever since he has had an unwavering desire to share the transforming gospel of Jesus Christ with everyone he meets. That desire continued to grow in John and it was in 1988 at The Master’s University (formally the Masters’ College) where the Lord solidified a calling to full time ministry under the ministry of Dr. John MacArthur. In 1993 John graduated from The Master’s Seminary (a week after marrying Betsey). Having ministered in youth and worship in various places, John and Betsey moved their family to Rockford, IL in 2005. Since then, John has been the Senior Pastor of Harvest Bible Chapel Rockford while also joining the Harvest Bible Fellowship, lead by Pastor James MacDonald. John's heart to proclaim the Word of God without apology, and to lift high the name of Jesus in worship continues to be central to all he does here at Harvest.
