Question: What about Jesus’ death and resurrection is overlooked?
Answer: In John 19:38-42, we see overlooked truth related to His burial. Verses 38-40 say this: “And after this Joseph of Arimathaea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, besought Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus: and Pilate gave him leave. He came therefore, and took the body of Jesus. And there came also Nicodemus, which at the first came to Jesus by night, and brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about an hundred pound weight. Then took they the body of Jesus, and wound it in linen clothes with the spices, as the manner of the Jews is to bury.”Question: How did Jesus conduct Himself at the cross?
Answer: As we read of Jesus going to the cross and on the cross in Luke 23:26-49, we can’t help but be struck by His focus on others, not Himself, even when facing death. Author James M. Gray said “Luke's account of the crucifixion is different from the others… Luke shows us 'the Man Christ Jesus, suffering, but showing grace even on the cross.' It is this amazing grace that shows even more the greatness of our Savior. When He was being put to death, He gives the words of life. When He is being tortured and killed, He does not focus on Himself, but on His Father and humanity.Question: How did Jesus conduct Himself before unbelievers?
Answer: Jesus was brought before unbelievers for His trials and conviction. In spite of the fact that He was innocent and His trials were a mockery of justice, He left for us an example of how to conduct ourselves when we are suffering for our faith in the Lord. “It isn’t fair!” How often we see injustice in the law, workplace and life.
