Hertford Street Baptist Church (formerly Upper Mount Gravatt Baptist Church) was officially constituted in July 1959 and over the last 50 years has maintained a strong witness in the community.
At Hertford Street we strive to be a Christ centred family community where individuals, couples and families can enjoy support and encouragement in reaching their full potential in Christ.
Our Sunday Service starts at 9.00am. We celebrate the Lord’s Supper every second week. We place an emphasis on the preaching and teaching of the word of God and believe that by His Spirit, God works in a sovereign way in the lives of individuals and in the life of the church.
While building on the premise of being Christ centred, Bible believing, prayer focused and Spirit led, we seek to maintain relevance in ministry while enjoying a balanced, contemporary worship style.
We also have a strong evangelical outlook as we share our faith and encourage others to trust Christ for their salvation.

Josh has lived in Brisbane’s Southside for more than 20 years. After finishing a degree in architecture, Josh followed God’s leading into full time pastoral ministry. He has recently graduated from Queensland Theological College with a Masters in Divinity and began ministering at Hertford Street Baptist Church in 2017. Josh enjoys music and food, and has a desire to serve God by proclaiming the Gospel to the community.

Under 12s:
Kids’ Club meets every second Friday (alternates with youth group) and caters for the Primary School age group. The programme starts at 6.45pm and includes games, activities and devotions. Supper is supplied at the end of each night and at special Kids’ Club events during the year a light tea is provided. Kids’ Club is a dynamic programme designed to meet the needs of a new generation.
Our youth group meets every second Friday night at 6.45pm and finishes at 9.00 pm. This programme caters for years 7 to 12 and usually includes games, fellowship, devotions and supper. Other examples of activities include, Ice Skating Nights, Ten Pin Bowling Nights, Messy Food Nights and lots, lots more!
