Who we are
We are St Mary's Church, Heworth (just opposite Heworth Metro). St Mary's exists to worship God together in Jesus making his love known throughout our community as a sign of his kingdom in the world.
We are a committed group of new and old Christians who care about each other, about God and about our neighbours. We come together in worship and we share that love of God with others we meet through the week, in prayer groups, at work, in volunteering at community projects or simply in chatting in the shops, street or library.
We believe that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is a radical Gospel which still speaks to us directly today; through worship, prayer and preaching we are reminded of our need to live and proclaim that Gospel and work towards the building up of the Kingdom.

"Prayer is not so much an act as it is an attitude - an attitude of dependency, dependency upon God".
