Who we are
Welcome to our church - we invite you to look around and get a feel for our church. If you're not currently a member of our church - we'd like to take this opportunity to invite you to one of our weekly services. And of course, feel free to reach out and call us.
We hope you and your family will have a warm and spirit-filled experience with us as we worship and fellowship together at our services, events, and ministries.
We'd also like to invite you to make an online prayer request. You're prayer request opens the door, and God is waiting patiently on the other side of that door, at all times, in all situations, to join with you.
We are called by the Holy Spirit to faith in Christ Jesus, and by God’s grace to love and serve God and all people.
Many blessings to you,
Members of HTLC

Holy Trinity Lutheran Church History
History of Our Church
Concerned Lutherans in Trinity County made several attempts to start a Lutheran Church. Through the continued efforts of Martha VandenBurg, the Lutheran Church in America became aware of the interest and need in Trinity County for a Lutheran Church. Ruth Myli, Assistant to the Bishop, contacted Pastor Hartley Lee of St. James Lutheran Church in Redding, to determine what the appropriate steps would be.
The first Lutheran Worship Service in Trinity County was held at the picnic area in Lowden Park, Weaverville on July 28, 1985 with 35 people present.
The Trinity Lutheran Mission, or “preaching point” as it was called, was sponsored by St. James Lutheran Church, the Pacific Southwest Synod of the Lutheran Church of America and the Regional Division of the Lutheran Council of the U.S.A. Since there were no funds available to begin a church in Trinity County, the ministry was supported by the Sunday offering and donations from St. James Church in Redding.
Lutheran Books of Worship, Communion Ware, and other supplies needed for worship were donated by members and by various other churches. A Steering Committee was formed on August 18, 1985 to carry on the business of the church. The first election of a Church Council by the congregation took place in February 1987. With the hope of some day having a permanent church home, the congregation purchased two and one half acres of land in 1988 for the sum of $6,500.00. In 1989 a committee was elected by the congregation and charged with the task of developing plans for a future church facility.
During the 1990's worship was held at various places. First, Sunday worship was at the Seventh Day Adventist Church on Main Street. Later a storefront on Nugget Lane was rented and used as an office along with a worship center. No building plans developed for the property purchased. In 1999 an opportunity presented itself to purchase a building with acreage on Highway 299 on the east side of Weaverville. The land previously purchased was sold and the money was used for a down payment on the property. Holy Trinity Lutheran Church now worships at this site located at 2150 Main Street (Hwy 299).
The incorporation of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church as a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America took place in 1990. Holy Trinity Lutheran Church is also incorporated by the state of California.
On Saturday, October 30th, 2010, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church celebrated twenty-five years as a worshiping congregation and twenty years as a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
