- Christ as the Head of the Church, the Word of God as its only authority, and the Holy Spirit as its only Guide into all truth
- the New Testament Church to be a voluntary organization of baptized believers meeting together to maintain the public worship of God and to observe the ordinances of the New Testament
- the deity and humanity of Jesus Christ and the all-sufficiency of His atonement
- Justification by faith alone in the righteousness of Christ

Matthew has been pastor at Jerseyville Baptist Church since January 2011. Prior to coming to JBC, Matthew and his wife Andrea were members of Trinity Baptist Church in Burlington where Matthew served as an elder.
Matthew obtained a Bachelor of Commerce degree from McMaster University followed by a Master of Divinity degree from Toronto Baptist Seminary.
Matthew and Andrea were married in August 2008 and have three sons, Robbie, Micah and Samuel. Andrea holds a Bachelor of Health Science and a Masters of Audiology degree from Western.
